Abstract
The number of firms that have successfully implemented Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program is relatively limited, while there are reports of successfully implementation in strong companies of world. The first step in the implementation of TPM system is identifying and removing the TPM implementation barriers in the industry; because until managers and staff of production and maintenance unit, Do not any attempt to remove this barrier, the failure of the project seems imminent. In this study, after identifying the key barriers to TPM implementation in the gas industry through literature review and interviews with experts, 6 major barriers is detected to the successful implementation of TPM. Then, using SWARA techniques, final weight of barriers was determined. Results showed that to human behavioral barriers as the main obstacle to TPM system in the gas industry and departmental barriers are last barriers in term of importance. So the gas industry can addressing these barriers based on the importance of each barrier and will take a major step in the successful implementation of a TPM system.
